Mike Hallam's Hot Six (click here for a tribute)

Mike Hallam has been patron of our festival since its inception and we look forward to welcoming him once again in this our 13th year. Mike was co-founder of the Harbour City Jazz Band, and spent four years with the Ray Price Quintet before forming his own band Mike Hallam’s Hot Six. He has played at many Australian jazz festivals as well as festivals in Canada, the United States, Britain, Thailand and New Zealand.

Our sincere thanks go to Mike for his continuing support of our festival.

George Washingmachine – why he’s got it pegged!
Feeling all strung out? Life in a spin? Well then let the dreamy music of George Washingmachine wash away the dust of everyday life.  George's talent with the fiddle is second to non and George's seductively smoochy vocals have made him one of Sydney’s most sought after entertainers.

Working the jazz traps of Sydney for years, George is a long time member of the “Bonza Vista Social Club” up there with legendary lights such as James Morrison, Bob Barnard, Ian Date, Dan Barnett and Monica Trapaga. George has also supported international performing stars such as Sarah Vaughan, Al Jareau, Leo Kottke, Leon Redbone, Lenny Henry to name a few.

"George plays better violin than me" - James Morrison."

Officer Commanding and Music Director - Major Geoff Grey CSM. The RMC All Stars Big Band has become an exciting and innovative ensemble within the Band of the Royal Military College. The band consists of the standard line up of 5 saxes, 4 trombones, 5 trumpets, rhythm and vocals.

The repertoire of the band comprises many charts ranging from traditional big band (Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Woody Herman) through to funky versions of Tower of Power and Quincy Jones arrangements. The Band members also enjoy playing charts of current modern big bands such as the Gordon Goodwin Big Band and works composed by the Australians James Morrison and Ed Wilson. Many of their arrangements are also scored by members of the band.

In recent times, the band has featured on many concert programs and is the mainstay at balls and cabarets providing Latin, Quickstep and Swing music for the dancing pleasure of patrons. The band looks forward to participating in Jazz Festivals around Australia, promoting the Australian Defence Force and performing to those young and young at heart.
